Functional neuroanatomy of the dog

Functional neuroanatomy of the dog

The book is structured in four parts: the first describes the macroscopic structure of the nervous system of the dog with sensory and motor pathways, the second is about the neurological examination and localization of lesions, the third covers the basic physics of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and the last is an MRI atlas of the dog's head. Vicente Aige Gil graduated in Veterinary Medicine (1985) and obtained his PhD at the University of Zaragoza (1988) with a thesis on the pineal gland in the chick embryo. He has collaborated with the University of Zaragoza (Spain), University of Reading (England), the University of Guelph (Canada) and the University of Glasgow (Scotland). He is currently a professor of anatomy at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and member of the American Association of Veterinary Anatomists (AAVA). He is the author of publications on clinical neurology and the following books: Neurología veterinaria en el perro y el gato (Veterinary neurology of dog and cat) (1998), Los nervios craneales del perro y del gato - Neuroanatomía y neurología clínica (The cranial nerves of dog and cat - Neuroanatomy and clinical neurology) (2001), Neuroanatomía y neurología clínica en el perro y el gato (Neuroanatomy and clinical neurology of dog and cat) (2002), El encéfalo de perro - Secciones y resonancias magnéticas (The dog's brain - Sections and MRI) (2002), El encéfalo del perro - Atlas fotográfico (The dog's brain - Photographic Atlas) (2004), Principios básicos de la resonancia magnética (Basic principles of magnetic resonance imaging) (2005) and Anatomía del sistema nervioso en el perro y el gato (Anatomy of the nervous system of dog and cat) (2008).
